Life by the seaside
This is our neighbor’s frontage and the community’s common-use traditional Filipino hut a few steps away from our own house. When the kids were little, we used to play a lot here by the water. The sea is beyond the breakwater, a low wall structure extending visibly over the horizon.
What I love about this place is how close we are to nature; trees, flowers, birds, fishes, jellyfishes and many more are rampant in this vicinity. The kids grew up surrounded by such beauty and their boundless energy expended here had a home. They used to explore this place a lot but now that they are in their teenaged and pre-teenaged years, technology has taken over their lives.
Still, I hold on to the hope that the magic of this place will never cease. That they would look out of their bedroom windows and marvel at the sight of the sea and beyond where the neighboring island of Guimaras looms.
Because when their dad and I first set eyes on this place, with its wisteria arches, bamboo bridges, fountains and statues, roman columns juxtaposed with beach huts, sparkling jewel-toned pools and its enchanting sunset view, we just knew this was the place for them to weave their dreams.
